Winners of Telkom Knockout awards

Ajax Cape Town were the big winners when the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and sponsors Telkom held the award ceremony in Johannesburg on Monday.

Ajax goalkeeper Sean Roberts netted the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award, while Franklin Cale and Mabhuti Khenyeza walked away with the Midfielder and Striker of the Tournament awards respectively.

The only award that was not won by Ajax on the day was the Defender of the Tournament gong, which was claimed by Orlando Pirates defender Lucas Thwala.

The prize money for each of the four awards was a whopping R100 000.

Cale and Khenyeza were also nominated for the Man of the Tournament award and will be competing against Orlando Pirates midfielder Benson Mhlongo for the R250 000 worth award.

Unfortunately, the three nominees will remain in suspense as the Player of the Tournament award will only be announced at the PSL Awards, which is planned for the end of the season.

STRIKER OF THE TOURNAMENT: Mabhuti Khenyeza – Ajax Cape Town (winner) Sifiso Vilikazi – Ajax Cape Town Richard Henyekane – Golden Arrows
